Our Programs

Our two programs, Beyond Rock for 10-17 year olds and B-Rock Kids for 7-10 year olds, offer the same elements below. B-Rock Kids, however, is a separate program tailored to the needs and abilities of younger kids.

Both are a one of a kind blend of:

•  Quality music instruction
•  Workshops in songwriting, stage presence,
digital multi-track recording and more
•  The rock band experience your kids have always dreamed of
•  Fun improvisational and recreational games and activities that build
self-esteem and confidence!
•  All ability levels are welcome!
Through intensive musical learning and play, our outstanding, experienced staff develop young musicians while they teach skills that kids can use for a lifetime.

Teamwork

Self Esteem

Courage / Risk-taking

Positive Attitude

Listening Skills

Self Expression

At the end of each session, the bands put on a real rock concert at the famous Mulcahy's Music Hall. Best of all, students form great friendships while they have lots and lots of fun.

We define rock music to include any popular music style your kids may enjoy.

With a minimum 1 to 4 staff to student ratio, we offer:
Instrumental Instruction
High quality, focused instruction is offered in keyboards, guitar, vocals, drums, and bass. Kids learn technique, theory, rhythm, musicality and performance tips in a supportive environment tailored to their ability level.
Individualized Instruction
Each young musician has many opportunities to get one on one instruction time with a member of our stellar staff.
Band Rehearsal
Kids form bands and learn the magic of teamwork, creating
true group ensembles as they learn songs to perform for family and friends. At Beyond Rock, two band rehearsals are scheduled each day.
Recreation /
Group Games & Activities
Fun games are offered to let our student musicians run around, break up the day, and just plain play! Each group has rec period every day. Many games and activities help kids get to know each other, get along, explore music related topics, and more.
Computers to Learn & Create Music
In hands-on workshops, kids are introduced to, and have access to, fun computer games that incorporate music theory, composition, instrument skills and more. MIDI piano keyboards (stand alone and/or connected to computers) allow students to play and write songs with any instrument sound.
Special Workshop Guests and/or Topics
Workshops are offered by staff and special guests if possible, on topics relating to music. Topics include: the music business, instrument maintenance, music improvisation, running a rock band, percussion, and more. When scheduling allows, high profile music industry professionals and performers may make appearances and/or perform.
Songwriting
Songwriting is a integral part of the Beyond Rock Experience. Kids work together to bring their own compositions to life. Songwriting workshops give students the skills and the confidence to create their own music.
Music Technology & Multi Track Recording
Students learn about the equipment and technology used by musicians. They are taught about PA systems for playing live, and about multi track recording as they create recordings in the fully digital Beyond Rock recording studio. Students will have access to professional audio recording software.
Performance Skills
Highly acclaimed workshops like “The Natural Singer” (adapted for musicians) and others are offered to develop stage presence and to promote powerful breakthroughs in tone, creativity and self expression. The workshops encourage musical freedom and movement as well as technique to help participants build confidence and grow as performers and as people.
Musical and Comedic Theatre Improv
"Beyond Rockers" and "B-Rock Kids" have lots of laughs while they expand their ability to perceive and create music, explore and make discoveries about their songs, develop their band personas, and more. They learn how to listen and work responsibly in groups as they learn to . . . well . . .   make it up! Improv inspires confidence and stimulates creativity while it improves a person’s ability to think on their feet and communicate more effectively on and off stage.
Student Choice Time
Admist the structured activities, Beyond Rock students (not B-Rock Kids) enjoy one period a day where they can choose how they spend their time.   During this time, they have access to all staff and may practice, get extra help, use the computers, play, relax, snack, jam, try other instruments . . . their choice.

Our outstanding, experienced staff draw on their diverse backgrounds and skills to generate a truly unforgettable experience!
